Habitat: Fireweed is a colony perennial that grows at all elevations. Fireweed can be found thriving in soils that have been eroded by devastation of flood, wind or fire. This perennial herb dances across the mountain valleys through the seaside hills of the coast.
Fireweed can be prepared in many different ways. Tea is a wonderful way to consume this revitalizing plant. After drying by fermenting one will take in all of the water soluble components of the plant and be sure to feel revitalized. The tea can be mixed with hydrosol of Fireweed to make a soothing topical preparation for the skin and orifices. Even safe to use as an eye wash or enema.

Fireweed can be hung in bundles or laid flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
It has a tendency to mold when harvested just after the rain, so be sure to allow the forest to dry out for a couple of days, or be extra mindful of turning the flat bunches and/or bunching fewer stalks together.
One could strip the leaves and flowers off of the stalk fresh as well. If there is space & adequate setting for drying in this way.
